Terms of service

1. Who we are

Evelyn Hartley & Co. ("we", "us") sells engraved jewellery to customers in the United Kingdom through this website. You can contact us at evelynhartley.co@gmail.com. We reply within 24-48 hours.

2. Using these terms

By placing an order you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, our Shipping Policy and our Refund Policy. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

3. Placing an order

Your order is an offer to buy. We accept it, and a contract is formed, when we send you a dispatch confirmation email. If we cannot accept an order (for example, an item is unavailable or a price was shown incorrectly), we will tell you and refund anything you have paid. Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Delivery is free to UK addresses.

4. Personalised items

Engraved items are made to your specification, so please check your engraving carefully before you pay. We engrave exactly what you enter, including spelling, spacing and punctuation. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, the 14-day right to cancel for a change of mind does not apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised. As a courtesy, if you contact us before engraving has started, we will happily change or cancel your order. This does not affect your rights if an item is faulty, damaged or not as described.

5. Delivery

We dispatch orders within 1-3 working days and aim to deliver within 7-12 business days. These are estimates, not guarantees, and busy periods such as Christmas can take longer. If we have not delivered your order within 30 days, you may be entitled to cancel it and receive a refund. See our Shipping Policy for details.

6. Returns and refunds

Our Refund Policy explains how to cancel or return an order. In short: items without engraving can be cancelled within 14 days of delivery and refunded without sending the item back; engraved items cannot be refunded for a change of mind.

7. Faulty or incorrect items

Your items must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Email us with your order number and photos and we will put it right.

8. Product information and care

We take care to show our products accurately, but colours may look slightly different on your screen. Plated jewellery wears gradually with use, so we recommend keeping it away from water, perfume and chemicals.

9. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or of our negligence. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to exclude. We are not responsible for business losses, as we sell to consumers only.

10. Our content

All text, images and designs on this website belong to us or our licensors. Please do not copy or reuse them without our written permission.

11. Your data

How we use your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published when you place your order applies to that order.

13. Complaints and governing law

If something is wrong, please email us first and we will do our best to fix it quickly. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your home country.
